Master Class Workshops - Get Your Tickets Now!

Our Master Class series continues!

So far we've had some absolutely brilliant workshops for the Hula Hoop and Improvisation classes (sadly our Clowning class had to be cancelled at the last minute, however we hope to be able to provide a replacement workshop in the future) - with more on the way!

Yesterday, Q20's John Lambert and Circus Skills workshop-leader Richard Gillett were invited to BCB Radio 106.6FM to let people know about the workshops and the great opportunities to learn a new skill or try out a brand new hobby. If you missed it, you can listen to the radio show for all the information here.

After that we've got Stage Fighting with Ian Stapleton (who also did a brilliant day of stage fighting workshops for our Half Term Theatre School), Cabaret with Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights' Janice Connolly (aka Barbara Nice) and a Costume Making workshop with the amazing artist team, Burnett & Catt.

These workshops are not to be missed, so make sure you get your tickets now and we'll see you there!

Q20 Theatre presents ... the Shipley Street Arts Festival Master Class Series

The Shipley Street Arts Festival work continues!

As part of our ongoing projects, Shipley Street Arts Festival will be offering a series of master-class workshops!

Each master-class will concentrate on a specific skill or discipline from the world of street theatre, so they're a great opportunity to Intermediate to Advanced performers to hone skills, or try out some new ones!

The first class - on "Improvisation", hosted by Displace Yourself Theatre's Jennifer Nevin and Mike Auger - will take place on Saturday, 24th October, from 10am - 5pm. The workshops will be held at our very own building, Dockfield Road Creative Arts Hub.

Remember, this is only the first in a whole series of amazing workshops - stay tuned for updates on what else is on offer!

Shipley Street Arts Festival: Summer School

You didn't think that the Shipley Street Arts Festival was over for another year, did you?

No - this year, we've expanded the event beyond the three days of festival fun: first with our forerunner events, like the Dockfield Road Creative Arts Hub "Open Day", our stall at the Dragon Boat race, and the Windhill Community Centre Arts & Crafts Day ...

But wait, there's more! There are workshop days coming up later in the year, another fabulous evening of "Carabet Heaven" hosted by our good friends at Irregular Arts ... but next on our list is the Shipley Street Arts Festival Summer School.

This is a great chance for young, budding actors, aged 11-15, to get a taster of the many disciplines involved in theatre work. Including everything from physical theatre to mask work and puppetry, the three-day course will be run by seasoned actress Gillie Kerrod, on behalf of the illustrious Calderdale Theatre School, so this really is an amazing opportunity for young people who have an interest in theatre to find out what's involved.

Held at the Dockfield Road Creative Arts Hub in Shipley from 17th August - 20th August, the entire course is just £20 per student - if you know somebody who might be a future Oscar winner, tell them not to miss this fabulous opportunity!

Shipley Streets Arts Festival - 26th - 28th June

It's back ... we're proud to announce we're hosting the second year of the SHIPLEY STREET ARTS FESTIVAL.

This year it's bigger and better (it has a giant whale, courtesy of nationally-acclaimed Circo Rum Ba Ba, after all) and we want everybody to get involved.

With a theme of 'Rivers and Canals' there are lots of projects in which to get involved. We've even joined up with The Saltaire Festival this year to commission a very special performance by 2Faced Dance’s new production, the superhero-themed action-dance spectacular KAPOW! which will be on show at Shipley Street Arts Festival and then again at Saltaire Festival for its thrilling first performances. Then the team are set to take the production on an international tour - but first stop is Shipley, and it's not to be missed.

You can find out more on the festival's official website: www.shipleystreetarts.com

In the meantime, we'll be updating our Facebook, Twitter and blog, so keep an eye out for details of amazing acts, fantastic workshops and fabulous artworks, all coming to Shipley this June!

Halloween Fun!

We're busy, busy, busy in the office starting to get ready for Christmas, but we haven't forgotten Halloween's next week!

As usual, Q20 will be involved in special spooky fun up and down the country, be there to be scared!

If you're in Lancashire for Halloween, make sure you get your tickets for the Halloween Ghost Trains - some of our favourite frighteners will be all aboard!

Shoppers at Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham can join in with some great cut-n-colour activities, perfect for your little monsters. They'll take home a frightening pumpkin mask, a flapping bat, a silky spider or even a witch's hat, just in time for trick or treating!
At Intu Potteries, you'll see our Circus of Ghouls show - where kids get involved, dressed up (with fabulous face painting too) and join a ghoulish parade with Wacky Witch and Dippy Wizard.

Happy Halloween from the team at Q20!
